Depression can stop a person living their normal life. A common cold, however, is often treated as medically more acceptable to cause a day off from work than depression, despite 1 in 5 sick-days in the UK being due to mental health issues.
There is a stigma around mental health, that it is weak, that you should just get on with life. The stigma around mental health means most people suffer in silence, with employers never knowing what's really going in because of a fear of discrimination.
Employed By Depression shows light on the struggle of being a full time worker while battling depression, explores the laws and rules around it and the help that is available.
THE DOC
Employed By Depression is a 7 minute audio documentary exploring how young people cope in full time work with depression. With stories of people's experience, insights from mental health professionals and looking into the legal aspect of discrimination - the stigma around depression in the work place is a key topic that needs to be discussed.
